It also makes me dislike CC. Stealing lines from Discworld and due South? Not cool. >:(

I spent hours reading it yesterday, and I have to admit, i'm most furious that she stole from Pratchett than anything else. I think I worship the guy too much. His style of writing is just so wonderful, to just c/p it like she did, it's like she's desecrating it. Or something. I sound stalkery-creepy.

I haven't finished it quite yet, but the Pratchett stealing makes me angry too. Partly because Discworld rocks my face, but mostly because I have to specifically edit my stuff to avoid sounding too much like Pratchett. Partly because I want to grow as an author and develop my own voice, and partly to avoid sounding like a copy-cat. And she just lifts his ideas wholesale with barely a citation. Jesus.

I actually don't mind it if people write in his style - there's some pretty good Discworld fics that are very much in style - as long as their ideas are original.
