hempfandango: (Deadpool - "madness")

  • Comic book blog 4th Letter did a Top 70 Deadpool Moments countdown and you should check it out. And I'm not just saying that because I was quoted in it ~extensively~ (because I am a huge Deadpool nerdlinger).

  • My feelings re: a possible Deadpool movie: I think it would be a good thing. Even if Fox fucks it up (which they almost certainly will), I'd still be forgiving, so long as they keep Ryan Reynolds. That guy just gets it.

  • The Wolverine movie stopped entertaining me when Wade "died" offscreen. Even Hugh Jackman running around in a tight white shirt for half the movie couldn't cheer me up.

  • Re: FCBD: The Avengers comic has been the most entertaining so far. Blackest Night 0 wasn't really enlightening (har har) at all.

  • Guys, I think Marvel Adventures: Avengers is my new favourite comic book.

  • It seems that after failing multiple times to revive the chemistry House and Cuddy had in the first few seasons, the writers of HOUSE, MEDICAL DOCTOR have finally given up and just made Cuddy into a female proxy of Wilson. gj guys.

  • P.S. this just makes House seem gayer.

  • P.P.S. bring back Amber.

So. [livejournal.com profile] axolotl_lan. Big Barda movie? (Maybe?)
hempfandango: (Don't let's start)
During Christmas, I asked [livejournal.com profile] axolotl_lan what she wanted, and she answered "fic or fanart". Unfortunately, I wasn't exaclty in a creative mood at the time, so she got nothing. Well, except for a sketch of a grown-up Moth that I stubbornly refuse to scan. And she didn't really "get" it, because it's still in my sketch book.

My point is, I figured I'd give her something ~fannish~ for her birthday.

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] axolotl_lan!

Title: Just Like the Movies
Rating: PG
Summary: After the final battle, Booster goes looking for the one person he doesn't want to see.
Pairing: Booster/Ted
Word Count: 429
Author's notes: Shamelessly inspired by GL Corps #19. Title comes from a Regina Spektor song.

Don't say goodbye like you're burying him, 'cuz the world is round and he might return. )

Title: Return to Yourself
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Ted lies in bed and tries to make sense of the fact that he's sleeping with his best friend.
Pairing: Booster/Ted
Word Count: 859
Author's notes: Companion to Just Like the Movies. I don't know if I like this one as much. :I

Ted wondered if he'd ever get a moment alone ever again.. )
hempfandango: (8|)
So, I'm finally getting around to reading Blue Beetle V2. Mostly I'm reading it because a) Guy is in it, and I'm pretty infatuated with him and b) I'm also love Ted Kord and, even though he's not in it, he'll probably get mentioned once or twice. It also helps that BB has a lot of what I look for in comics, i.e. it's a lot of fun, it's funny, and the art is nice and stylized.

Anyway, I was reading issue 4, havin' a good time when BAM!

LIFE ON MARS REFERENCE OUT OF NOWHERE )

I just wanted to share this with you, internet~.
hempfandango: (Bon kiss)
Title: Haunted 2/2
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hempfandango
Rating: PG
Summary: Tony's seeing ghosts.

Notes: This part isn't creepy at all. Sorry :c

Never felt so lonely, then you came along. )
hempfandango: (ReGen - sigh)
Title: Haunted 1/2
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hempfandango
Rating: PG, I think?
Archive: Absolutely.

Notes: I realise that I am very, very late and for that I apologize. There are reason(s) as to why it's late, but they are boring, whiny, personal reason(s). I also apologize for the fact that this story is now in two parts. It started out life as one single story, but there's such an abrupt shift of tone and narrative voice half-way through that it just makes sense to split it up.

Also part two is not yet finished. It'll be done sometime today probably.

If I were a ghost, I wouldn't choose to haunt this place. )
hempfandango: (MST3K - Let's kill that mountain.)
I swiped this from [livejournal.com profile] axolotl_lan. I do love quotes and procrastination.

1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. No Googling/using IMDb search functions.

Everything I like is so mainstream or recent... )

And now to work on essay #4.
hempfandango: (Default)
Guess who just finished reading Deathly Hallows?

here's a hint: it's me! )

You know, I haven't reread any of the books in years. I don't think I've ever reread the sixth book at all. I think I'm going to read the whole series again, though. Just for kicks, and to see if I can pick up on any hints I missed.
hempfandango: (Discworld - You want some of this?)
Probably not as revised/edited as it should be. I'll keep working on it, but in the meantime...

Previously, on the Badger Brigade. )

Badger Brigade
Chapter Thirteen: Back to the Present
I will never get tired of that joke.

Never! )
hempfandango: (RvB - Bad day to be me.)
Today is my birthday, which is pretty cool. You know what that means, right? That's right. Time to update my profile!

But more than that, it means I'm no longer a teenager which means I no longer have a valid excuse for being immature and awkward.

Anyway, for my birthday, I'm going to be a little self-indulgent. Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] chibimarchy.

Choose twelve of your original characters, in any particular order. Then, answer the questions that follow, but DON'T LOOK AT THE QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU PICK THE CHARACTERS!

1. Fate
2. Odin Faulkner
3. Eva Ivanova
4. Cain St. March
5. Const. Deirdre McKenzie
6. Corp. Charles Whitby
7. Const. Alexandra Worth
8. Ana Ye
9. Lin Ye
10. Sergeant Megan Elm
11. Inspector Ignatius Farewell
12. Azrael

(note: I liked Alex and Megan so much, I ported them over to my original 'verse. They're side-characters now whoo. I ported Sara and Liz too, but they're not as interesting.)

doin dis )

I wish I hadn't included Azrael in that list. He works better when he's not really involved. Plus I made him sound like more of a violent, pointlessly evil maniac than he actually is. Oh well. :I
hempfandango: (ReGen - D'aww)
Anyone watch ReGenesis? Yes? No?

Well, I do. Season three just ended and I really want to talk about it. And by "it" I mean the finale and season three in general.

Contains spoilers ok. )
You know, I said I wanted to write more fandom-y stuff up in this journal, but I'm not sure I meant to write quite that much. Oh well.
hempfandango: (Snicket -- Whee.)
Iiiiit's that time again. Time for all insane authors to roll up their sleeves, break out their word processors, sign up for NaNoWriMo and kill themselves.

That would be the more sensible course of action to take.

Of course, that's not what we do. We write. Because we're not all right in the brain pan.

Anyway, as per usual, BB is on hiatus for the month (and for a while after that) while I write/recover.

Anyone care to share with me their NaNo plots this year? I promise I won't steal 'em maybe.

P.S. [livejournal.com profile] buttfacemakani is into Discwolrd now! I hope this means we'll be seeing some DW art from her. Then she and [livejournal.com profile] twirlynoodle can fight to the death for some reason.

P.P.S. http://www.rhifilms.com/property.php?propertyId=Hogfather&page=photos

Hogfather photos! Sorry it's not an HTML link but LJ is eating them for some reason.

No introduction this time. You're on your own.

The Badger Brigade
Chapter Twelve (b): Pastorama (again)
The thrilling conclusion!

It's gone done, son. )
hempfandango: (Speak insultingly)
First of all, I've sold out to The Man. Sorry for the ads, guys, but I want more user pics without having to spend money on it. Although I'm seriously beginning to regret my decision. OH well, at least they're not as obnoxious as the ads on TWOP.

Secondly, part 2 is complete. It hasn't been beta'd because my beta has been too busy. I'm thinking about getting a new one, but I don't know where to look. Are there communities? Even if there are, I want to pick someone who's opinion I know I can trust. ...

That sounds awfully pretentious, doesn't it? I mean, I'm just writing fanfic, not a critical examination of the Praries circa the '30s. :|

Anyway, I'll post Chapter 12: Part 2 up later tonight, after I get it properly spellchecked and give it one last edit.

House has very quickly become my latest fandom and I loves it. I love House. And Wilson. And House/Wilson. ♥

P.S. I hope everyone's been reading [livejournal.com profile] mina_de_malfois. If not, it's a delightful parody of fandom foibles (with focus on BNFs) and, unlike certain fanfics, it has a regular update schedule.
hempfandango: (I did it for the lulz)
I hope you guys have been reading the latest down at bad_penny. It's long, but educational.

It also makes me dislike CC. Stealing lines from Discworld and due South? Not cool. >:(

P.S. Everyone should go and see Spamalot. Just sayin'.
hempfandango: (Default)
It's been a while, I know. A lot of unfunny things have been happening to me and it's basically killed a lot of my desire to write. I've been stressed, I've been busy, I've been sick and I've been real tired.

But I've been writing, dammit. Chapter twelve has more than 10, 000 words and it' still not done. I was going to post it all as one thing, but I wanted to have something up before July ended. Hopefully part B will be up relatively soon. It still needs to be finished and edited, but that shouldn't take much longer.

Anyway, without any more blather:

The Badger Brigade
Chapter Twelve (a): Pastorama
Yes, we’re still in the past.

God that's a lot of adjectives. )
ETA: I've just posted a beta'd version. Now it's a little better.

Previous Chapter - Index - Next Chapter

This is quite possibly the only funny thing to come out of this whole fandom implosion nonsense.
hempfandango: (You want some of this?)
Holy hannah, I nearly forgot. It's the Glorious 25th of May! I hope everyone's wearing lilac or, if you can't find any, wearing it in spirit.

And, because I know that's the only reason I actually have people on my flist, the next update for the BB is... coming. Eventually. I know it's been a while, but I've just gotten over a monster writer's block and this update is quite long. If things keep going the way they are, this update will be in the area of 8000 - 10000 words, roughly double my usual length. Of course, that is about par for the course for most overblown novel-length epic fics. I hope the BB doesn't become one of those.

Oh, and before I forget, BBC7 is airing a Mort radio play. It's quite good. The first episode is up here and if you have a half-hour to spare and RealPlayer, give it a listen. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] twirlynoodle for posting about this on her journal first.

Hey guys, guess what?

The Badger Brigade
Chapter Eleven: Back to the 80s Movie Reference: Part Two
Part three to be released in two years.

Four months later, you get chapter eleven )
hempfandango: (Default)
Hey guys, what's going on.

I have good news! Chapter 11 of the BB is finished and being beta'd as I type this. I'll probably post it tomorrow night. It should be over five thousand words, so... hooray for that, I suppose.

And now, onto some other crap I wrote.

Title: Her Name is No One
Pairing: Church/Tex
Rating: R
Author's Note: Inspired by the song "No One" by Trocadero and by the profiles on the season three DVD.

I heard someone say that she's honest and good )
hempfandango: (Default)
I know, I know, I should be working on the BB. I have been, I swear! I just wanted to write this. I love Red vs Blue and Grif/Simmons. Besides, it's just a one-shot and it took maybe an hour to write and edit. I'll probably keep on editing it, though. It's what I do.

Title: Bully
Rating: PG for swearing but not for anything totally hot, sadly.
Pairing: Grif/Simmons (my OTP), but only just.
Summary: Grif reflects on his relationship with a teammate. Not set during any particular time. No angst, I promise.

Introspection time comes just before nap time. )
