So, I feel I should tell you guys what I told the cats down at Gaia.
The next chapter of the BB won't be updated for a while and with good cause, of which I will outline for your convenience.
November is going to be rather nuts for me, mostly because of NaNo (which I plan on winning this year, dammit) and partly because of university (did you know university is kind of hard? I didn't. Boy, what a surprise that was.) However, after exams are done, I have a lot of time in December to kill so hopefully there'll be an update sometime next year.
Oh, and don't worry about the Winter Olympics distracting me. Although I am Canadian and living in Toronto, I don't like hockey.
I'm thinking about posting chapters of my NaNo on this journal. I don't know. I think I'd be too self conscious to post a piece of work that I haven't edited. Believe it or don't, but the BB is fairly carefully edited, grammar errors and all. I feel dumb enough when someone points out one of my many homophone mistakes ("It's "waste" not "waist". So, you're going to be an English major, huh?") that I can't even imagine what people'd say with my unedited crap ("The possessive "its" doesn't have an apostrophe, "machinerinal" isn't a real word, there shouldn't be a comma between "cocksucker" and "cow lips", and "famine" is spelt with six letters, not seven. Really, an English major?"). Further more, although I was initially excited about my plot, I've recently realized it's a giant, ridiculous sounding clusterfuck of genres with too many characters and a very vague theme. And I'm going to write it any way. Whoo.
Eh. I might just post it anyway, out of spite.
What are you guys doing for NaNo? If you are doing NaNo, that is. And if you aren't, why notyou commie?
P.S. Is "clusterfuck" one word or two?
P.P.S. I still love you guys. F'real.
ETA: Big surprise, I was talked into it. I'm not going to pretend it's a big chore for me, because it isn't and that'd be kind of insulting to you guys, but I really am worried about what people will think about it. I personally think it has too many characters (who sound a little cliche on paper) but I don't want to ditch any of them. Ah well. If people don't like it, they're welcome to complain/MST.
Also, I made this last week, because people on the NaNo forums had some awesome graphics for their NaNos and I wanted one too.

It's too busy looking, I know. I like it anyway. :o

- Midterms, followed closely by...
- Exams.
- The release of Thud! (which I just bought today whoo and haven't finished SO NO SPOILERS PLZ) and Where's my Cow? (which I'm probably getting for Christmas)
- The release of The Penultimate Peril (I also don't have this one woe D:)
- The release of the fourth Harry Potter movie.
- And, most pressingly, NaNoWriMo.

Date: 2005-10-23 04:21 pm (UTC)It's my first year doing this and I'm posting the raw material (okay, SLIGHTLY edited for grammar/spelling/punctuation, but otherwise there in all its crappy glory)... Because I write better for an audience, even if they're ripping me a new one for my poor plot development. You could always set up an semi-anonymous side account for your NaNovel to blunt the self-consciousness a bit, too. Pseudonyms are good for that.
Anyway, POST IT!! And speaking of mishmash of genres with too many characters... here's mine, (http://www.livejournal.com/users/clairedeloony/4680.html") as yet unplotted, really. So don't worry, we're all in the same caffeinated boat. Like a floating coffee shop, with people hunched over laptops with their half-caf skim lattes going cold while they chew their pen caps and type, completely unaware they're at sea. Huh. That could make a good short story.

Date: 2005-10-24 01:45 pm (UTC)And let's get it straight - BB has a very clever plot, though challenging for the future progress. It deserves its time of growing and plotting. Yes, there are few Badger addicted, but even we can survive few months, having a fair substitution in your promised NaNo story :)
P.S. We love you too. F'sure.

Date: 2005-10-27 11:04 am (UTC)My decorated peice of shit is going to be all over the place too. At the moment, it seems it'll be about the Squirrell Olympics and Dracula doing stand-up comedy. I don't know how I'm going to connect those two things...
